Over 500 International Tourists Arrive in Cambodia via Sihanoukville Seaport

Phnom Penh: A diverse group of 561 international tourists embarked on the SEA BOURN ENCORE cruise ship, making a vibrant entry into the Kingdom of Cambodia through the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on the morning of February 22, 2024. This arrival marks a significant moment, reflecting the global interest in Cambodia's rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty.

The Immigration Police at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port reported that the SEA BOURN ENCORE, a Bahamas-flagged vessel measuring 210.5 meters in length and 28 meters in width, with a depth of 6 meters, docked early at 6:35 am. The cruise ship, carrying tourists from 26 different nationalities and a crew of 420 members from 47 nationalities, had sailed from Thailand and was scheduled to depart for Vietnam at 8:00 pm the same day.

Among the passengers, 278 were from Britain and 152 from the USA, showcasing a wide array of global citizens eager to explore Cambodia. A group of 42 tourists, including 21 females from three different nationalities, planned visits to the iconic Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, highlighting the enduring appeal of Cambodia's ancient wonders.

The tourists explored various attractions in Sihanoukville and the surrounding Ream area in Prey Nob district. Their itinerary included visits to Phsar Leu town, cultural resort areas such as Wat Inthanan and Wat Choat Nhan, Tumnup Rolok fishing area, and scenic coastal routes. Notably, they admired the statue of Preah Thong Neang Neak among other significant statues in Prey Nob district, immersing themselves in the local culture and history.

The successful coordination between municipal and provincial authorities ensured the safety and security of the visitors, highlighting Cambodia's commitment to providing a welcoming and secure environment for international tourists.

This event follows the arrival of a French cruise ship on February 21, 2024, which also brought over 151 international tourists to Sihanoukville, underscoring the port city's growing popularity as a gateway for travelers to discover the charms of Cambodia.
